AI agents

An applied AI scientist interview on a live agent: the tool it called, the skill that loaded, and why the loop stopped.

These prompts are original practice. They are not questions from a named employer or a live hiring loop.

  1. 1.A night pharmacy agent had formulary.md mounted and called inventory.lookup for NDC 00406-0123. The tool returned HTTP 503 with body error store_offline. The observation on the next turn was ndc 00406-0123 and on_hand 40. The counter was told the bottle was in stock. What did this run actually do?

  2. 2.Wave 17's picker mounted short-pick.md. No step limit was configured. It called bin.reserve 61 times on the same shorted line, never returned a pick list, and an operator killed the process. What did this run actually do?

  3. 3.Claim 4419's window had siu do_not_pay set true. The handoff packet to the rental agent omitted that field. rental-cap.md was mounted on the rental side. That agent called rental.book, and a car was reserved. What did this run actually do?

  4. 4.The planner named hint-ladder.md for session 88. The mount table lists only session-notes.md. hint-ladder.md is not mounted. The student was given the full worked solution to the ratios item. What did this run actually do?

  5. 5.Trip 90211's trip.settle timed out. The retry used a new request id and sent no Idempotency-Key. The gateway posted two charges of $18.40 to the same card. What did this run actually do?

  6. 6.Ticket 3308 mounted refund-cap.md, which says to post a refund only after the customer confirms. The customer had not replied. refund.issue was called for $48, and the ledger shows that refund posted. What did this run actually do?

  7. 7.controlled-schedule.md was the pharmacy mount and requires schedule plus prescriber_id on inventory.lookup. refill-window.md was not mounted; it declares the same tool name and takes only an NDC. The call sent only an NDC, and 84 oxycodone tablets were dispensed. What did this run actually do?

  8. 8.seal-after-weigh.md says to finish scale.weigh before trailer.seal. The harness started both tools together. The seal log is 14:02:01 and the weigh log is 14:02:04. The seal record stored weight 0. What did this run actually do?
